Excerpt from A Spanish GrammarIn this grammar the authors have aimed to present to English-speaking students the more important facts of pronunciation, inflection, and syntax in a clear and adequate way. No attempt has been made to separate inflection and syntax: it is hardly necessary to keep them asunder in an elementary text-book. An abundance of exercise material has been given, and the exercises have been made as practical as possible. The verb list is very full, and has been provided with ample references, in the hope that it may encourage drill upon one of the most difficult divisions of elementary Spanish grammar.To no slight degree drill work has been made a conscious feature in the preparation of the composition material. It will be seen, particularly in the later exercises of the book, that the sentences of the English part are based on the words and the turns of phrase occurring in the Spanish part preceding.
